Gary A. Rosen

Before opening his own legal practice in January 2003, Gary Rosen was a partner in the international firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. Gary has more than 30 years experience litigating patent, copyright, trademark and other intellectual property and commercial disputes, and has served as lead counsel in numerous preliminary injunction hearings, Markman hearings, jury trials, bench trials, and arbitration proceedings. He has also argued many cases before federal and state courts of appeals.

Gary holds a degree in physics from Haverford College and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and an editor of the Law Review. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to Judge A. Leon Higginbotham, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He has been a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Drexel University School of Law.

Gary is a registered patent attorney and, in addition to his courtroom work, represents clients in contested matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has lectured and published articles on intellectual property law issues, including insurance coverage for intellectual property claims. He is the author of two books on law and American popular culture, Unfair to Genius (Oxford University Press, 2012) and Adventures of a Jazz Age Lawyer (University of California Press, 2020), as well as a blog, Jazz Age Lawyer.
